Steps In Our Building Process
If you’ve never built a custom home before, you may be wondering: “Where do I start? How does this all work?” Or, if you have built a custom home before, you may be wondering how our process compares to what you’ve experienced in the past. Either way, we’d like to explain how our process for building homes works.
First of all, All About Home Design is a design/build home builder. That means we have an in-house design process so you don’t need to go shopping for an architect first. We work with our clients to not only build their homes, but also to drive the architectural design and the interior design. This comprehensive process has allowed us to create some beautiful homes that consistently win a flurry of awards at the Colorado Springs Parade of Homes. Step by step, here’s our process:
Pre-Construction/Planning Phase
Step 1: Pre-Qualification
When you contact us, we’ll have an initial conversation to pre-qualify each other. We’ll make sure that the home you want to build is something we can do, and you’ll decide whether you like our process and approach and want to work with us.
Step 2: Initial Meeting
We’ll set up a time for you to come into our showroom and meet with our team to discuss your initial thoughts on designs, square footage, architectural styles, and more.
Step 3: Site Selection
If you don’t already have land, we will work with our real estate partners to help you find the right lot to build your perfect home on.
Design Phase
Step 4: Design/Drafting
Our designers will help you come up with a conceptual design that gets the creative process started. We will incorporate your ideas in the home’s design and brainstorm the best combinations of design features, styles, and more.
Step 5: Selections & Finishes
During this step, you’ll spend time making selections to “fill” the home, including: flooring, carpet, windows, paint colors, finishes, fixtures, and more.
Step 6: Finalization of Costs/Drawings
By this point we’ll have all your selections locked into place, your blueprints will be stamped and ready to begin building, and your costs will be clearly delineated in your contract.
Building Phase
Step 7: Building
We’ll break ground on your home, and begin the building process. This is the fun part! The foundation will be poured, framing will begin, and you’ll slowly start to see your dream home come to life.
Step 8: Completion
Your home is now done! Once all the final inspections are completed, we’ll be able to get your CO (certificate of occupancy), and you can move in shortly after.
Step 9: Warranty
After you’ve moved in, you can unpack and settle in knowing your home is taken care of by our warranty which is the best in the industry.
